Jonah and the whale

The dark skies pervaded
The sin had created
A storm to top all storms
The sin he performs

The call was to go to a different place
But he didn’t like that particular race
He fled and tried another way
He knew that for this decision he would pay

It was Gods plan for him to speak
God wanted him to be humble and meek
God said feed my sheep
He said I want them to weep

On the waves the ship tossed and turned
The waves jumped and churned
The men on the ship learned of his sin
They tried to toss over him and his kin

He was sent into the waves and into the mouth of a fish
That this man was edible was the wale’s wish
For many days he was in this mouth
He didn’t know if they were going north or south

He understood that he had sinned
With God his relationship did then mend
The whale spit him out
It could have been a large trout

He then went to where the Lord wanted him to go
He would make a friend out of a foe
Telling them of God and their condemnation
This was God’s regulation

In the same way I feel called like Jonah and the whale
I don’t fully understand this path, my trail
I want to obey God’s will
I just have to wait school is forever until

Jonah and me we are one in the same
God calls us to things that we return with shame
It just seems easier to go with the flow
Until the waves and the current let us know

We cannot escape God’s divine call
And give up selfishness, to say goodbye to all
We love him so deep he loves us too
Somehow I know in the end it will be true.

I liked the second half of the poem more than the first.

The first seemed that you were just choosing random words that rhymed together, even to the point of being factually inaccurate.

I really liked the theme and comparison, it was insightful.

Have you ever tried doing a more complex rhyme scheme? That can be fun. ABCBA For instance. Or ABCD ABCD ABCD.
